Monday, 2nd March, ITV – 9pm
Bac in September 2017 the first series of Liar was a big hit with viewers as the tense drama challenged viewers to ask who they believed teacher Laura Nielson or surgeon Andrew Earlham.
Series two starts where the first series left off, and we see Earlham has been murdered with his body left in the Kent Marshes.
For those who missed the first season, or those who’ve forgotten a lot of the details as it was first on-screen nearly 3 years ago, there’s a lot of flashbacks in the first episode which adds some backstory and shows us new information.
We also meet the detectives charged with finding out the murderer and it appears as though there’s a long line of suspects including Laura.
Match of the Day Live: The FA Cup
Tuesday, 7.30pm, BBC 1
This season for the first time in the competition’s long and illustrious history, the FA Cup fifth round will be played out over four different weeknights. This change in the fixtures helped make way for the new mid-season winter break.
Tonight viewers can see Chelsea take on Liverpool live from Stamford Bridge with punditry from host Gary Lineker, Ian Wright, Glen Johnson, and Alan Shearer.
Liverpool has been focussing on the Premier League and yet more European success in recent times, but there are hopes of a treble this season, so will they make the cup more of a priority tonight? With no replays from this point on in the competition, there could be extra time and penalties tonight to settle the tie.
Britain Underwater: Fighting the Floods
Tuesday, 9pm, ITV
Documentary crews visit and highlight some of the UK’s worst-hit areas of flooding. Recent storms including storms Denis and Ciara, have left many with their homes as shells.
The show follows the Environment Agency as they prepare for the damage, and asks the question if flooding is just a regular fact of life in modern Britain.
The Trouble with Maggie Cole
Wednesday, 9pm, ITV
The trouble with Maggie Cole is a new series starring Dawn French as the title character living life in a small coastal town.
She a bit of a busybody, and knows everything about everyone and the local area. When she is invited to a radio interview to discuss the town’s 500th anniversary she has one too many to drink and starts to reveal the secrets she knows about the locals live on air.
Thursday, 8pm, Channel 4
Clare Balding presents day four of Crufts from the NEC in Birmingham, featuring the Flyball, Agility, and Heelwork to Music.
Topics and themes in discussion around the event include dogs in mental health and dogs that saved lives. The theme for day four is Which Dog Is Best for Me and My Lifestyle and this includes features on what personality types are suited to certain types of dogs.
Wild Cuba: A Caribbean Journey
Friday 8:30pm – 9:30pm BBC Two
Explore Cuba’s natural world with this laid back documentary looking at wildlife on the island.
Much of the theme revolves around how Cuba’s isolation from the outside world has let it have a unique level of evolution amongst local species.
As a result around half of the species that call Cuba home are unique to the island. We meet the world’s smallest bird, the bee hummingbird, and a rare woodpecker.
Friday 9pm – 11:10pm ITV2
Kevin Hart stars as a soft security guard who needs to get the blessing of his tough cop brother in law (played by Ice Cube) before he can marry her sister.
In order to give his blessing or more likely break his spirit so he doesn’t have to, the cop insists that he needs to come on a Ride Along which turns into a dangerous 24 hours hunting down a vicious criminal.
If you’re looking for an undemanding but cheerful enough buddy cop action comedy on a Friday night, Ride Along is a good watch.
The Voice UK
Saturday 8:30pm – 9:55pm ITV
This week it’s the third and final round of Battles as coaches Olly Murs, Will.I.Am, Tom Jones and Meghan Trainer pair their chosen contestants against each other to find a winner.
The singers that do the best job in the battle will get to go through to the next round, but even those who are defeated have a small chance of remaining in the competition if they are stolen by another judge.
Race Across the World
Sunday 8pm – 9pm, BBC Two
A new series of the adrenaline-fueled race to get around the globe in a competition against other teams.
There are five pairs of contestants given a small amount of money and banned from using planes, mobile phones or credit cards in order to get to seven different checkpoints around the world.
In this first episode, the teams set off in Mexico City with a mission to reach Honduras for the first checkpoint. Which team’s tactics will pay off?
Football: SheBelieves Cup 2020: Japan v England
Sunday 7pm – 9:30pm BBC Four
England Women take on Japan Women in New Jersey, as part of the round-robin stage of the SheBeleives Cup 2020. England are the current holders after defeating Japan 3-0 in the final last year, but their form has dipped in recent months and they are looking to rebuild momentum ahead of Euro 2021.
