The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2018

Monday 7pm – 8pm, BBC1

In the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, 24 performers showcase the world’s best military performers to mark the Royal Air Force’s 100th Anniversary. Bill Patersons narrates the highlights of the event with the band of the RAF College taking centre stage. Other performers include the United States Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team, the Tattoo Dance Academy, Top Secret Drum Corps, the combined bands of the Royal Cavalry of the Sultanate of Oman, the Royal Marines Band Plymouth, Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Banda Monumental de Mexico.

 

Drinkers Like Me: Adrian Chiles

Monday 9pm – 10pm, BBC2

Adrian Chiles opens up and examines why he and many others in the UK drink alcohol. He attempts to find out why many do not believe they are addicted despite it being impossible to enjoy life without a drink. Adrian, who drinks almost daily, decides to keep a diary and is shocked to find his intake is way over the recommended limit by medical professionals. With this information to hand he decides to get his liver checked out and the results are no what he expected.

Tuesday 9pm – 11.10pm, Film4

Baltasar Kormakur’s action adventure starring Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington. Two undercover agents, one Navy and one DEA, infiltrate a drug cartel, but the planned sting operation goes disastrously wrong. Both agents find themselves on the run as fugitives and must work together to survive, but both hide their true identity leading to each mistakenly thinking the other is a criminal.

 

Horizon: A Week Without Lying  – The Honesty Experiment

Wednesday 9pm – 10pm, BBC2

Pioneering scientists from across Europe have come together to conduct a radical experiment using technology to understand and explore what the world would look like if we could not tell lies. Three British participants are rigged up so they cannot tell any lies undetected and attempt to live a week without telling any lies. The experiment sets out to explore the impact lying and deception has on social interaction and our lives and it’s direct consequences on our mental state and relationships.

 

First Dates Hotel

Wednesday 10pm – 11pm, Channel 4

Charming Fred Sirieix and his team head to Italy and a luxury hotel where they will welcome singletons from UK looking for love in the sun. Emma, a tattooed police woman has had a painful marriage and will meet bearded carpenter Luke in what turns out to be one of the shows most passionate dates in history. Meanwhile, Bristolian David, who sadly lost his husband to suicide is finally ready to look for love again, the flight attendant is set up on a date with Andrew, who embraces life and also hails from Bristol!

 

Our Everest Challenge: With Ben Fogle and Victoria Pendleton

Thursday 9pm – 10pm, ITV

For two years broadcaster Ben Fogle and his friend, Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton, have prepared to scale Mount Everest. This documentary follows the pair to Kathmandu where they trek into the Himalayas to Everest Base camp where the can hone their skills and acclimatise before attempting to reach the top. The pair are guided by 12 time veteran of Everest summits, Kenton Cool, a British mountaineer who has been to the top more times than any other European.

 

Match of the Day Live: Women’s World Cup Qualifier Live

Friday 7.30pm – 10pm, BBC2

Kick off 7.45pm. Live from Rodney Parade in Newport, Wales take on England in Group One of the qualifiers for France 2019. Both sides have already secured the top two spaces in the group and the winners will earn automatic qualification, with the losers embarking onto a two-legged play off to qualify. Wales go into the tie with a 1 point advantage and this is their last encounter in the group whereas the Lionesses have a game in Kazakhstan. Wales haven’t conceded a goal yet but England have scored 20 so far.

 

The X Factor

Saturday 8pm – 9.15pm, ITV

Series 15 starts in the SSE Arena Wembley as the search for the next music super star returns. Dermot O’Leary returns as host but there are some new faces on the judging panel! Robbie Williams, his wife Ayda and Louis Tomlinson join veteran Simon Cowell.

 

The Two Faces of January

Sunday 5.20pm – 7.15pm, Film4

Hossein Amini’s Thriller based on the Patricia Highsmith novel, starring Kirsten Dunst, Oscar Isaac and Viggo Mortensen. Masquerading as a tour guide in Greece, a conman selects a wealthy American and his wife as potential targets. However, a murder at the couple’s hotel is committed and all three are incriminated which results in a dangerous alliance developing.

 

Dragons Den

Saturday 8pm – 9pm, BBC2

More entrepreneurs throw themselves into the Den to present their business idea to self-made millionaires Tej Lalvani, Jenny Campbell, Touker Suleyman, Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones. This week includes a pair of hairdressers who have a business with colour wash shampoo, university friends of have an online platform and a doctor who has invented a range of convertible clothing.
